Message from the President
I did not join the PTO when my daughter, started school, because I did not know what the PTO was and I did not know anyone in the PTO. A friend asked me to attend a meeting when Taylor was in First Grade. I am now thankful that I was asked to go, because I have not looked back since. I plan on being an active contributor for years to come. Active does not mean being at every meeting, every fundraiser, every school function. What it means to me is giving what you can to help. Yes, our group does have a core group of people who are steady supporters. BUT the volunteer that bakes a bake good for the Faculty/Student basketball game, works for Santa's Workshop, Jump for Heart, Student Store or helps with any of the other activities, plays a very crucial part of the success!
If you have one or two hours to volunteer for a children's education, then we could put that hour to work for the students! We are not asking for total dedication on everything we do but any time you could lend will help our children be more successful this year and in future years.
The PTO has helped me partner with my daughter during her educational experience at Lower Alloways Creek School. I have met each and everyone one of our OUTSTANDING teachers Pre-K - Eight. I have been able to met them due to the fact that we communicate with the teachers to find out what they need to help them and the students be as successful as possible.
I know what you are saying, "What about the fundraising?" Yes, we do run fundraisers. In the past three years we have been able to fund new playground equipment, new books for our media center, 8th Grade Wood Working Projects each year, equipment for physical education and we recently purchased a ceramic kiln for the art program. Those fundraisers also support academic achievements by our students; Writing Awards, Science Fair Bonds, and Graduation Awards to name a few.
Why do I do it? I meet new people, and I interact with other parents. My family benefits from being involved in my children's education. The main reason why I am involved is, the SMILES and THANK YOUs, from all of the children for a job well done is priceless! Help us to enhance your child's future. Send in your volunteer form today, give us a call, or drop us an email. In short GET INVOLVED.
Sincerely,
Kimberly A. Hill
